RPH Manufacturing Limited

“Fortune Favours the Brave" is a motto proudly displayed on entry to the RPH Manufacturing facility. It is a business that boasts over 40 years of customer focussed production. This level of experience and knowledge helps RPH Manufacturing to stand out from the crowd. It must be emphasised that RPH offers a great deal more to its customers than familiarity with precision engineering solutions. It goes hand in hand with a commitment to run an immaculately clean, well-organized workshop, full of the latest technology, including 4 of the latest Hurco VM models with Max 5 twin-screen controls.

When asked why he has a preference for Hurco machine tools, owner and Managing Director, Richard Haim states “I like the Hurco because I know a lot of the Formula 1 Teams are Hurco customers. I am very interested in Formula 1 and I thought there could be no better endorsement to buy a Hurco machine tool. I bought my first one in 1999, and my second, a year later".

Richard Haim is always open to innovations or new working methods that can make his business perform more efficiently. A perfect example is the manner in which he has embraced Hurco's “state-of-the-art" Solid Model Import Software. Whilst already a user of the Hurco DXF Software, he was easily able to realise the additional benefits of applying the dimensions including depths, direct from a .STP file into a conversational programme. One of the main benefits being that data-entry errors are almost totally eliminated. Imagine a job with 100 drilled and tapped holes. A window is placed around the holes to select them. It is then simply a case of choosing the appropriate tools to do each operation. The rest of the programming is done for you. If “Tool Optimisation" is then selected, the number of tool changes is minimised, allowing the machining process to be as efficient as possible.

At RPH Manufacturing, JIT and Kanban principles form a major part of services offered. Kanban is a physical management tool that allows workflows to be visualised, maximising efficiency and minimizing work-in-progress. JIT or “Just-in-time" supply works in harmony with the Kanban system, enabling RPH to offer daily or weekly deliveries of fully machined parts and sub-assemblies, meaning customers have less supply chain concerns and can reduce on-site stock-holding.

Richard Haim likes to get the full benefit from everything the Hurco Max 5 control and software has to offer. All of his machines have dual-screens, allowing programme editing on the left-hand screen and detailed, high-resolution component and toolpath graphics on the right. Richard uses the graphic simulation and “dry-run" facility to ensure there are no mistakes and the production is correct from the first-off component.

Having worked in engineering for 57 years, Richard still gets great pleasure out of the quality of work that he produces. He is determined to keep working and running the Hurco machines until he passes the year 2031, that will be 50 years of trading. We have every confidence that goal will be achieved.
