It's great to be back at a “normal" show
The Southern Manufacturing and Electronics exhibition returned to the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre 8th-10th February 2022, after a year break due to Covid. Although some restrictions were still in place, it certainly felt like the most “normal" exhibition for some time.
The show certainly didn't disappoint in terms of attendance numbers. There was a 9% increase in footfall over previous years, setting an all-time record of 9,256 visitors enjoying the three-day event, which is the UK's longest-running and largest annual industrial technology exhibition. Companies from all over the UK, continental Europe and further afield took part, showcasing a wide range of industrial products and technologies, from electronic components to the latest high-tech machining centres.
On the Hurco stand G200 there was a steady flow of existing and potential customers taking the opportunity to view the cutting demonstrations on the compact VM10i machining centre and TM6i CNC lathe. Of particular interest were the latest developments in the Solid Model Import software that allows surfaces to be programmed as conversational data blocks.
Having committed a substantial budget to a 300M² stand for the forthcoming Mach 2022 exhibition, it was reassuring to visit a regional show and see the aisles full. There is currently a great deal of positivity within the market. Hurco has rebooked the same stand size and location for 2023.
