Fast forward to July 2008 and Hurco decided to commit themselves in establishing Hurco South Africa (Pty)Ltd
“Like the rest of the group we intend to build Hurco South Africa into a customer-focused organisation with sales, service, and applications support capabilities that are unmatched anywhere else in the country” General Manager David Cutts said confidently.
A Global Presence with Multinational Markets
Present was Peter Guy, export sales manager together with David Cutts and Johnny Walker. David and Johnny would take care of sales whilst Hurco SA started to look for more sales personnel and application personnel
"Hurco has a successful and effective supply chain, consistently providing the same quality machine and control systems at all locations that are compatible with localised market demand. The machine tool market has changed significantly over the past 10 years. Currently, 80% of worldwide machine tool consumption is outside of the United States. Hurco’s selling organisations are strategically positioned to provide full service to customers within their specific markets. Each of the selling companies have resident General Managers and staff who are positioned to work closely with Hurco customers to understand their application requirements. Hurco is strategically planning to grow in each of these emerging markets and this is why Hurco have decided to open an office in South Africa” Cutts continued.
"Hurco’s customers have historically provided components and services within the automotive, aerospace, medical equipment, energy, injection tool and molding, transportation and computer equipment industries. Recent global pressures have dramatically impacted on these traditional markets. Hurco is responding to their customers’ need to compete in a true global market because their success depends on their ability to quickly adapt to new environments. In such a dynamic and shifting industry, diversity and flexibility are critical elements for our customers to provide value added machining services to their customers.
"Hurco’s control, software and machining systems provides customers with these attributes which help them operate at maximum levels of efficiency without adding overhead and other non-value added expenses.
"We provide customers with the ability to eliminate process steps leading to, and during the machining process. Our control, software and machine design are driven by our customers’ success under the highest competitive positions. We will continue to work with customers to identify even greater process efficiencies, understanding that our success is dependent upon our customers’ success.
"We make machines smarter.®" is the Company’s registered slogan and this is backed up by the fact that Hurco are continually improving and introducing new products. Just this month at MACH 2006 in Birmingham, UK four new machining centres, positioned between 'entry level' and 'mainstream' were introduced. The machines feature long Y-axis travel and the single-screen Ultimax control.
"We will be reporting to Hurco Europe and they will be providing us with all the support we need. Already they have shipped two machines to us which we are currently installing at customers and more are on the water for us to set up in our showroom” Cutts concluded.
