In today's rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape, job shops face unique challenges stemming from a severe labor shortage and the growing demand for faster job setup times. This presentation delves into the crucial importance of automation for job shops and highlights ProCobots as a provider of high-mix, low-volume automation solutions.
The discussion begins by addressing the pressing issue of labor shortage, which has compelled job shops to seek efficient and cost-effective alternatives. One of the key solutions lies in the extremely fast job setup time offered by automation systems, which streamline processes and reduce reliance on manual labor. The benefits of collaborative robots (cobots) over traditional industrial robots are also highlighted, emphasizing their versatility, safety, and ease of integration into existing workflows.
This presentation showcases ProCobots as a provider of effective high-mix, low-volume automation, pointing to how it can cater to the diverse needs of job shops that handle a wide range of parts and projects. Throughout the presentation, attendees are taken through the step-by-step process of automating a part for a Hurco CNC mill using ProCobots' automation software. From initial planning to seamless integration with the Hurco control, participants gain valuable insights into how automation can revolutionize job shops and drive efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
By showcasing real-world examples and practical applications, this presentation aims to inspire job shop owners and operators to embrace automation as a strategic imperative for staying competitive in today's dynamic manufacturing environment.

This presentation dives into the considerations and advantages of acquiring a 5-axis CNC machine. Mike Cope, senior applications engineer and product technical specialist at Hurco, explains the importance of workholding and emphasizes the need for careful evaluation of the machine's capabilities in this area.
Cope also explores the benefits of each 5-axis configuration, emphasizing the impact they have on design freedom, precision, efficiency and manufacturing flexibility. By understanding these benefits, potential buyers can make informed decisions that align with their specific manufacturing requirements.
The overall goal of the presentation is to guide participants in making a well-informed purchase that maximizes productivity. By carefully considering workholding challenges and evaluating the benefits of different 5-axis configurations, businesses can unleash the full potential of a 5-axis CNC machine, leading to enhanced manufacturing capabilities and increased productivity.

In this first Hurco Quick Training Session, we go over using Helix, and Thread Milling on your Hurco CNC mill. This is not an overly complex topic but it is something we can go over in a relatively short period of time and is something that the apps department still receives quite a few questions over for machinists in the field.
You would use the Helix function to get holes without drilling, needing a center cutting endmill, or where the fixturing is not the strongest and you don't want a lot of side load since most of the load will be in the Z-axis and not just the side. You would use the Threadmill function when the thread is too large, and a tap is either going to require too much torque or be too expensive. Or if you have a tight tolerance thread that needs to be controlled more than what you can get from your tap.

Hurco Quick Training Session #2 covers Miscellaneous Data Blocks. These often-overlooked data blocks can have a big impact on your programming, so we decided data blocks definitely warranted a session all to themselves. This session will show you how to Change Parameters, Multiple Work Offsets, Comments, and Tool Change Optimization on your Hurco CNC control.

The Quick Training Session this week will be overusing Swept Surface on 2D geometry. This is a slightly different use than what Swept Surface Option was intended for but works out pretty well.
