Hurco to Exhibit New HSM Mill at Booth 117

Published: 3/22/2014

INDIANAPOLIS—The Hurco high-speed VMX42HSi with direct drive servos, an 18K integral spindle, and X/Y/Z travels of 42/24/24 inches, is equipped with premium components to handle the rigors of high speed machining. The Automatic Tool Changer supports HSK tooling and has a chip-to-chip time of 4.5 seconds. The air-over-oil spindle lubrication distributes oil evenly and prevents bearings from grease starvation.

Equipped with UltiMotionTM, Hurco’s patented motion control system, cycle time is reduced up to 30% while simultaneously improving the surface finish quality of molds. UltiMotionTM uses complex software algorithms for motion planning instead of conventional hardware, which means it optimizes look-ahead, up to 10,000 blocks.

The VMX42HSi is built to last and to retain accuracy with larger linear rails that are strategically spaced and mounted to a machined shoulder for increased rigidity. Additionally, the linear rails are wedge-locked to the frame to reduce vibration instead of the faster, cheaper face-milled process. The double-nut, pre-tensioned ballscrews are anchored at both ends to increase accuracy and rigidity.

The Hurco integrated control is optimized for the advanced tool paths generated by CAM systems with a 64-GB Solid State Drive, two gigabytes (2 GB) of memory, a 2-GHz Dual Core Intel Processor, and processing speed up to 2,277 bps.
