INDIANAPOLIS—The Canadian premiere of the new Hurco brand will be held at the Western Manufacturing Technology Show (Elliott Matsuura Booth 1121) June 4-6 in Edmonton, Alberta.Elliott Matsuura will exhibit the Hurco TM18Li slant-bed lathe for large parts and the VMX50i machining center at WMTS. The TM18L delivers 1,721 ft-lbs of torque from a 73-hp [54.4-kW] motor and has a 4:1 ratio gearbox. Customers in the energy and mining sectors use the TM18Li primarily to machine precise threads on drill casings and other tubes.

    Hurco VMX50i 3-Axis CNC Mill

The VMX50i 50-taper mill has double-nut pre-tensioned ball screws anchored at both ends to increase accuracy and rigidity. The large linear rails are strategically spaced for increased strength, and wedge locked to a machined shoulder to reduce vibration. The VMX50i is equipped with UltiMotion, Hurco’s patented motion control system, which simultaneously reduces cycle time up to 30% and improves surface finish quality. UltiMotion uses complex software algorithms for motion planning instead of conventional hardware, which means it optimizes look-ahead, up to 10,000 blocks.

As with all Hurco machine tools, both the TM18Li and VMX50i feature the integrated Hurco control that includes standard ISO/EIA for NC programming and the best conversational programming available. While the TM18Li has the single screen Hurco control instead of the dual screen control found on the VMX50i, both types of controls include conversational programming that helps shops of all sizes increase profitability by increasing productivity and include standard ISO/EIA to support NC.

INDIANAPOLIS—Hurco will showcase its high-speed VMX42HSi mill at amerimold (Booth 247) that will be held in Rosemont, Ill., June 12-13. With direct drive servos, an 18K integral spindle, and X/Y/Z travels of 42/24/24 inches, the VMX42HSi is equipped with premium components to handle the rigors of high speed machining. The Automatic Tool Changer supports HSK tooling and has a chip-to-chip time of 4.5 seconds. The air-over-oil spindle lubrication distributes oil evenly and prevents bearings from grease starvation.

Equipped with UltiMotion, Hurco’s patented motion control system, cycle time is reduced up to 30% while simultaneously improving surface finish quality. UltiMotion uses complex software algorithms for motion planning instead of conventional hardware, which means it optimizes look-ahead, up to 10,000 blocks.

The VMX42HSi is built to last and to retain accuracy with larger linear rails that are mounted to a machined shoulder for increased rigidity. Additionally, the rails are wedge-locked to the frame to reduce vibration instead of the faster, cheaper face-milled process.

The Hurco integrated control is optimized for the advanced tool paths generated by CAM systems with a 64-GB Solid State Drive, two gigabytes (2 GB) of memory, a 2-GHz Dual Core Intel Processor, and processing speed up to 2,277 bps.

INDIANAPOLIS—Hurco machine tools will be exhibited at three EASTEC booths at the annual show that will be held in West Springfield, Mass., May 14-16. Hurco distributor Brooks Associates will exhibit the 5-axis VM10Ui mill and the mill turn TMM8i at Booth 1205; CCAT will exhibit the Hurco 5-axis VMX30Ui at Booth 1354, and Greenleaf  will showcase the 3-axis VM10i mill at Booth 5317. All of the machines feature the new design Hurco introduced at IMTS 2012. While the sleek exterior design of the Hurco machines with the new Hurco logo is the most noticeable difference from the classic Hurco machine tools, the inclusion of UltiMotion is the most significant technological difference. UltiMotion is only available on Hurco mills, both 3-axis and 5-axis. This patented feature reduces cycle time by up to 30% and significantly increases surface finish quality.
    VM10Ui
The 5-Axis VM10Ui (Brooks Machinery Booth 1205) has X/Y/Z travels of 21x16x19, X/Y/Z rapids of 945 inches per minute, a 20-station ATC, and the integrated Hurco control that supports both ISO/EIA NC programming and conversational programming. For customers who don’t have simultaneous 5-axis work right now, the Hurco 5-axis machines include 5-sided conversational programming that instantly makes each part more profitable. The inherent technology of the Hurco 5-axis machining centers minimizes the number of setups, eliminates scrap with powerful verification graphics, and delivers superb surface finish with advanced smoothing algorithms.

INDIANAPOLIS (March 10, 2011) Hurco Companies, Inc., announced it has renewed its strategic alliance with Panther Dreyer & Reinbold Racing (DRR) for the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series season. The Panther DRR team selected Hurco as their exclusive CNC machine tool and has been using the Hurco 5-axis VMX42SR and mill turn TMX8MYS to make parts at their 30,000 square foot Indianapolis facility since 2011. As a sponsor, the Hurco logo is featured team’s car, Hurco has VIP access to the team’s race facilities during the IZOD IndyCar season, and has had the privilege of using a show car for events.

At DRR’s machine shop, lead machinist Shane Sievers, who started machining back in the days of punch tape, relies on Hurco’s conversational programming to make parts on the fly. “I’ll get a call when the team is on the race track and they’ll say they need a new part tomorrow morning. Sometimes I have a print. Sometimes I sketch it out on a piece of paper. The Hurco control makes it easy to get the part fro

m my head to the control. That’s what I love about being a machinist for an IndyCar team. No day is ever the same. And our Hurcos are made to handle that kind of quick turnaround and the need for constant flexibility,” said Sievers.

“Since both Hurco and DRR are based in Indianapolis, the racing capital of the world, it is fitting that Hurco plans to celebrate the company’s 45th anniversary with special customers by holding a VIP event in the month of May that promises to give guests the Indy racing experience of a lifetime,” says Phil Fassnacht, Marketing Director for Hurco Companies, Inc.

“Dreyer & Reinbold has been an outstanding partner. At IMTS, the team’s driver, Oriol Servia, team co-owner Robbie Buhl, and lead machinist Shane Sievers conducted presentations at our booth, attended a special VIP event for customers, and autographed pictures and custom race helmets. They just do a great job accommodating us and our customers. With the behind-the-scenes access, such as attendance at the team meeting, in addition to the team’s friendliness, our customers get to experience the excitement of IndyCar and have a great time,” says Fassnacht.

The racing season kicks off March 24th at St. Petersburg and then the road to Indy continues with the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama on April 7th, The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach April 21st, the Sao Paulo Indy 300 in Brazil, and finally the Indianapolis 500 on May 26th.
