The spindle is the heart of any machining center. This is certainly one area to research before purchasing a machine tool. This is why Hurco refuses to cut corners on spindles.

Hurco designs and manufactures all of its own spindles because it’s too risky to trust just anyone else with something so integral to the machine.

Hurco uses advanced ceramic hybrid bearings in the spindle. These bearings run at lower temperatures, so they have a significantly longer lifespan. The grease-packed bearings are sealed and are supplied with a lifetime lubrication rating. The Hurco spindle is environmentally friendly and maintenance free. Unlike with atomized oil lubrication, precision grease-packed bearings ensure a lifetime of the exact amount of lubrication without the concern of weekly maintenance, air and oil pressure, oil viscosity, air contamination or leaking. The high cost of coolant disposal is greatly diminished with the permanent, grease-packed spindle bearings. Not only is the Hurco system maintenance free, it's also one of the most reliable on the market.

Keeping the spindle and work area clean is vital to machine performance; therefore, Hurco incorporates an upper and lower air-purge system to keep contaminants outside the spindle.

It is very important to verify the tooling balance rating for use in all spindles 8,000 rpm and faster. Properly balanced tooling will ensure longer spindle life, a quality surface finish and maintain the spindle warranty provisions.
