Hurco Tool Changers

It’s quite frustrating for a shop to be limited on the projects it takes because the machining center can’t handle the tool requirements. That’s why Hurco has made it a point to consistently offer more tool pockets than its competitors, including a 40-pocket option on select VMX models. Hurco’s HTX500 has 60 tool stations.

Typically one of the most complex parts of a machining center, the tool changer has gotten a lot of attention from Hurco’s engineers. They concluded that a changer with an electrical indexer is far more reliable, especially over the long term, than pneumatic. So that’s exactly what you’ll find in Hurco’s machines.

Since speed is everything in a manufacturing process, Hurco uses swing-arm tool changers. They’re much quicker than the umbrella style. A Hurco machine can go from tool to tool in less than three seconds.

Also adding to the speed is Hurco’s use of random tool positioning. It’s faster because the changer doesn’t have to go to a specific tool pocket, it just picks the closest open one. It then remembers where that tool is.

Simple.
