WESTEC 2004 a Success for Hurco
News Release

April 2, 2004

The WESTEC 2004 show turned out to be a great success for Hurco, thanks to the many customers and visitors who stopped by our booth. At the show, held in Los Angeles, California from March 22-25, we introduced two new models to our machining center product line—the VMX24S and the VMX42 with a 40-tool automatic tool changer.

The VMX24S is a high-speed variation of our popular VMX machining centers with a 15,000-RPM spindle. It also features Adaptive Surface Finishing Software (ASF) which facilitates greater look ahead so feed rates are controlled for excellent surface finishes. The new VMX42 model makes jobs even easier and more efficient, with a high-powered 24-HP spindle motor that produces 210ft-lbs of torque at 600 RPM. Larger than the industry’s most popular work-cube, the VMX42 (42″ x 24″ x 24″), is built to meet the many challenges faced by today’s machinists.

In addition to our latest VMX models, we demonstrated the capabilities of our “Best in Class” VM series machining centers. These machines have the largest work cubes with the smallest footprints in their class. Other features include cast iron frames, fully enclosed tool storage area, 16-station swing arm ATC, digital motors and drives, and the advanced technology of the Max control. Between the VMX and VM series there are sixteen models of machining centers that bring new meaning to the term “multi-tasking”. Intelligent engineering, multiple standard features, and powerful options make these products an outstanding value. Our advanced technology can provide cost effective solutions to the most challenging machining applications while delivering quality performance, optimizing workspace, and minimizing operator involvement.

Visitors to Hurco’s booth also had the chance to see the powerful UltiMax 4 programming station in action. Its dual-screen configuration, which is unique within the industry, maximizes the capabilities of our graphics-based knowledge-based programming. The power and simplicity of WinMax Desktop software was also on display. WinMax Desktop provides advanced networking capability through a shop network or the Internet in a Windows® environment.
