Is there any way to reduce 3D surface machining time and yet improve surface finish?

That’s a challenge.

And it’s one that Hurco’s been attacking for more than 30 years. The result so far is a practical application of sophisticated controls and software technologies. Basically, that means Hurco has the tools to get the superior 3D result without costly third-party packages.

One of the problems mold makers encounter is the large file size (10, 20 and 50 MB files are common) the NC data generates when dealing with 3D. Controls must be able to transmit and store these programs efficiently and economically. That means more RAM. Compare the cost of that additional RAM among the controls under consideration. Sometimes, it can be very substantial.

Hurco controls are fully compatible with ISNC G Code for easy throughput of the offline generated programs.

There are also numerous automation tools perfectly suited to improving the 3D finish. The ASF functions, for example, smooths out a curve or arc and greatly enhance the quality of the finish. And it’s all accomplished in a few easy steps.

There are also some hardware advances to consider. The VMX50 machining center has a fast, stable, 15,000 RPM spindle that is vibration-free for superior surface finish.
